Tabletop Styling: Burgundy & Gold

tabletop styling

Ok so normally I detest winter BUT the one thing I love about winter is the awesome opportunities for some opulent tabletop styling. Burgundy and gold is one of my favourite colour combinations for winter; rich, deep tones offset with flashes of warm gold.

I find that gorgeous glassware (it’s always worth investing a good set) and candlelight lift any table setting and an awesome floral arrangement can be a game-changer.

As a ‘base layer’ I chose gold charger plates here as they’re such an easy stylistic cheat that bring added colour and polish – I picked mine up at Wilko for about £2 each! The wide pink coupe glasses and silver antler sharing bowl are from TK Maxx who also do some incredible barware. I’m always tempted to pick up props, champagne buckets and other serveware from there as it’s so reasonably priced and there’s always a one-off gem to be found!

Add in some bowls or cake stands for more interest and arrange them with deep burgundy and crimson fruits that have different textures and sizes, for a lush and abundant feel; red grapes, pomegranates, plums and cherries all work really well.

Candles. If all else fails, candlelight in a pretty votives or antique candlestick holders give instant, intimate ambience – and warmth! Everyone looks good in candlelight, so scatter them around liberally, the more the merrier! I got my gold glass votives and the mercury glass cake stand from Anthropologie – always a winner for fabulous homeware all year round.

How do you normally style your table? Is there anything that you love to add to your tabletop?!
